Specialist Review
Once the checklist and state-level distribution portions of the original data used in the Taxonomic Data Center were completed in draft form, copies of the early manuscript (i.e., individual families, subfamilies, genera, sections of genera, or state-level lists) were submitted to taxonomic and floristic specialists for review. The specialists generously provided many helpful comments and suggestions in the early stages of the project, and many also provided excellent critical reviews of the final manuscript. The reviewers' comments and questions were answered to the degree possible, and the vast majority of their suggested corrections, additions, and deletions were incorporated. In some instances, however, it seemed more appropriate to allow the original draft to stand unaltered, or to augment an already reviewed manuscript in order to provide the most appropriate, recent, or consistent taxonomic concept of a group, or to comply with the basic format and established goals of the TDC. Thus, I ultimately assume full responsibility for any nomenclatural or phytogeographic errors or differences of taxonomic opinion. I have attempted to list and thank as many of these specialists as possible within the Acknowledgments. Taxonomic, nomenclatural and/or phytogeographic data contributors and reviewers |
